The mission of the WLA Jr Vikes is to Build Christian Strengths Through Basketball.
Each coach sets their own practice time depending on gym time and scheduling. Typically, teams have one or two practices a week.
The tournaments that the teams play in are usually weekends only. Each tournament is booked by the coach based on availability, location, competition and cost. Most of the tournaments are one day, but a small percentage of them are two day events.
The player fee to be on a team is between $75 - $125 depending on the grade of the player. Fundraising is an important part of keeping the cost of the program lower, so parent and player are asked to help. We ask the player to sell minimum of $100, although you can sell more and reduce your fees.
Team formation happen in Early December. Games usually start after their grade school program finishes and can go up to the end of April.
Costs of funding youth programs have increased dramatically. We ask that each player work to sell $100. For family that do not like to fundraise they can make a buy-out donation. A program that can help offset player fees is available for families that have a desire to raise greater funds.
All player and parents are required to attend this annual meeting, as laws requiring youth program to inform parent/player of health and safety standards. At Family Huddle Night, we also provide information on what the program is all about, discuss the benefits, collect fees and distribute fundraising material.
